The Supermarket Sensorial
The purpose of this project was to highlight the creation of architectural space through unique forms of inspiration. A simple object taken from a supermarket was to be divided into five separate spaces with each space focusing on a human sense that traces back to the supermarket object chosen. A box of macaroni and cheese was the chosen object and main inspiration source for the model shown. Constructed all by hand, the main tower was casted from concrete and the spaces utilize basswood, chipboard, and plexiglass.
Spatial Integration
This project's primary focus was to use architecture language and vocabulary to create a model that was divided into three areas. Those areas were defined as garden, dwelling, and maker's space. We used architecture vocabulary of our choice to help influence these spaces and their usage of materials. The model was constructed by hand and made solely out of basswood and plexiglass.
Thematic Implementation
Done out of curiosity and excitement, this colossal project was done personally to help myself understand, learn, and grow the personal self-skillset, knowledge, and experience that I had. Based off a popular adventure character, this model and its story evoke mystery, adventure, and a bit of peril. Crafted almost entirely by hand, the model was built using craft paper, plaster, basswood, foam, clay, and 3D printed parts. Approximately 500 hours were poured into the model's creation over a span of 1 1/2 years.
